Official Stance on Inspecting and Servicing DACOR Equipment
At Red Alert Diving, the safety and satisfaction of our divers are our top priorities. To uphold these standards, we have established a clear policy regarding the inspection and servicing of DACOR equipment.
DACOR Scuba, one of the pioneering manufacturers of diving equipment in the United States, ceased independent operations after being acquired by Mares in 1999. Following the acquisition, Mares discontinued the production of DACOR regulators and their parts, instead using the DACOR name for a new line of Mares-designed regulators. As a result, essential replacement parts for original DACOR equipment are no longer available, making it unsafe and impractical to service these items.
While DACOR holds an important place in diving history — even contributing its equipment to iconic moments in pop culture, such as Darth Vader's breathing in Star Wars — the age of the equipment, combined with the lack of parts and specifications, means we cannot guarantee the safety or reliability of serviced DACOR gear.
For these reasons, we have chosen not to inspect or attempt to service DACOR equipment. We recommend that divers with DACOR gear consider upgrading to modern alternatives that meet current safety and performance standards. Our team is happy to assist in finding suitable replacement options to ensure your diving experience is both safe and enjoyable.
